The School of the Arts, English & Media (TAEM) presents
Maryland (SOLD OUT)
Written in just 48 hours in response to the murders of Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa, Maryland is an extraordinary howl of a play by one of the UK’s most significant playwrights. Lucy Kirkwood’s searing short-text stages the fraught relationship women have with policing, before opening out to ask uncomfortable questions about gender and violence.
Staged by over 50 performance and theatre students from all years, this choral text plays out in a landscape of bodies.
Tickets are free, and a collection will be taken for the local charity Women Illawarra. Maryland will be preceded by two short works written by UOW students.
